In my classroom sit a room full of students who want to do well, but often lack the skill set to fully comprehend the college level material we cover. After a few weeks of trying various methods to help them experience success, I decided to make tutorial videos that also explained the concepts. In essence, I flipped my classroom; but, allowed the learning to occur during the class time. What a difference it made!! Students were able to experience success through individualized instruction. Students who worked well independently, utilized the video to learn high-level concepts and, additionally, assist their classmates. I was able to spend more time with students who needed more of my attention and the videos provided reinforcment. The headphones were a big part of this process. I wanted to ensure that all students had a method to view and listen to each instructional video. However, I never had enough headphones and many of them were very low quality and broke easily. A classroom set of quality headsets ensures that each student is able to take advantage of this effective method of instruction. Your help will allow me to continue to foster a learning environment where students have all the tools they need to master the concepts important to their development in the course.
