These resources give my first graders an engaging way to listen to stories, build listening comprehension, develop vocabulary, and strengthen their love of books. During literacy centers, students can independently choose a story, put on their headphones, and listen closely without disrupting their classmates. This allows me to provide meaningful listening practice while also working with small groups and providing targeted instruction to students who need additional support. The Tonies Box has helped turn listening into an interactive and enjoyable learning experience rather than simply another classroom assignment.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is having the opportunity to choose the story they want to hear and feel independent while using the technology. They love being able to select a Tonie, put on their headphones, and settle in with a story. Some of my more hesitant readers have especially warmed to this resource because it allows them to enjoy stories and build comprehension without the pressure of having to decode every word independently. Students can listen to fluent storytelling, practice retelling what they heard, make connections, and discuss characters and events with their classmates. The headphones also help create a focused environment where students can listen carefully and stay engaged. I have already seen students become excited about choosing books and talking about the stories they heard, which is exactly the kind of enthusiasm I hope to build in my classroom.\r\n\r\nThis project has given my students another way to experience the joy of books while developing important literacy skills. As we continue throughout the year, I plan to use the Tonies Box during literacy centers, independent learning time, and listening comprehension activities. We use rh magnetic sheets to skip count by tens to 120. The students colored theirown numbers. Then, we added the magnetic sheet and cut the individual numbers to easy count up, add 10 or subtract ten. To my surprised, some students gathered and mixed different sets of numbers to find the number called by a student. They had so much fun with that. Then, a couple of students where skip counting together. Another student organized the numbers in order. \r\nThe mesh figures where a little hard for my students to insert yarn and create a colorful design. It was a challenging task perhaps next time I would use bigger mesh easy to manipulate the yarn. \r\nAll my students loved making words using the magnetic letters. I paired them up to make and read sight words or just making words on their own. \r\nThank you for making this a fun learning encironment. The students were so excited about the clipboard whiteboards. The excitement and their eyes are we opened up the package was amazing. I have seen them interested in writing. It is such a wonderful writing tool to start the year. We are using them during math time and reading. \r\nOur old pencil sharpener gave up and we were using a regular pencil sharpener. It was taking us a long time to get all the pencils ready. Our physical science posters are now proudly displayed and support daily lessons.\r\n\r\nA standout moment happened during a lesson on moon phases. Students gathered around the new model and took turns demonstrating how shadows create each phase. The confidence boost she got from having a hands on tool was amazing to see.\r\n\r\nWhen the kids first walked in and saw the solar system rug unrolled, they gasped and immediately sat down on the planets they felt drawn to. They have been grateful and respectful of the supplies, and they talk about how lucky they feel to have them.\r\n\r\nWe use these items each day and my class has been so thankful to learn in an extra clean environment. Students race to see who can clean their desk the best, or fastest and try to make their cleaning wipe the dirtiest.
