The kids are trying to beat their numbers from the previous day. They enjoy an end of day add up for a class total as well. Discussions on competing with each other for steps has helped with good sportsmanship.\r\n\r\nWhen my current 2nd graders saw the box and realized someone funded our idea they were excited. Immediate test \"runs\" ensued. It was perfect timing as the end of the year can be hard to motivate students.They are thrilled to continue monitoring their movement next year and named Workout Wednesday and Fitness Friday.\r\n\r\nI see one student in particular noticing his 800 steps on day one could improve! 2000 the next day after recess and was hitting 3000 by Friday. This family does struggle with finances and have been so thankful for this gesture to get their son more active.
