Having everything I need for instruction in one place helps me organize my different content area materials seamlessly.\r\n\r\nThe first day of school arrived, and seeing the children's faces full of excitement as they walked in brought so much joy to my heart. One of the first things we did was take a tour of our classroom to notice all the new spaces and supplies available to us. Students chatted, giggled, and awed at everything in front of them. Knowing that generous people outside of our school cared enough to send us these brand-new tools made them feel deeply valued. I knew right then that this was the start of a great school year.\r\n\r\nThese resources have already transformed how our classroom runs daily. The caddies, baskets, and mesh bags keep our workstations organized so we spend less time searching for materials and more time learning. We have already displayed beautiful art and writing using our wooden push-pin clips, and we love discussing the daily agenda during calendar time. Recently, we used the 100 charts for an interactive math lesson on skip counting, addition, and subtraction strategies. Meanwhile, the new pocket chart stand has become crucial for our literacy lessons, making language support visual, hands-on, and accessible for everyone in the room.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward this term, our next step is putting these tools to work as we dive into two-digit place value in math and begin our first collaborative writing project using our newly organized supply hubs. This is also an inviting space for an alternate work area for students who need flexible seating. Classroom staff have also shared how calming and warm the colors are. We used our new bass drum cover and electric bass cover to protect our instruments for our assembly on May 22nd. We performed a piece written for us by a Columbian composer, and it was so great to look polished! The composer was in attendance and seemed very happy. \r\n Students were excited when they saw these new covers in our classroom, and my players knew that we could safely transport instruments without damage. That will carry forward if we ever perform off campus as well in the future. \r\n We are going to continue working with Stanford Lively Arts next year, and hope to do another composer project again in the spring of 2027. The magnets have been especially helpful on our whiteboard because they allow us to display student work, examples, and activity cards where everyone can see and interact with them.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were very excited. They immediately noticed that the classroom had new tools for our activities, and they were eager to use them. They loved seeing their work displayed on the board with the magnets, and it made them feel proud to share their ideas with their classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of the most special activities we did with these resources was creating personalized keychains. Students participated in a hands-on project where they designed and assembled their own keychains. This activity helped them practice creativity, fine motor skills, and following instructions step by step. Second of all, it really helps students learn to find books more independently and learn how libraries are organized.
