Because of your generosity, my students now have access to calming and creative tools they can use when they need help regulating their emotions, refocusing, or expressing themselves. These resources have been especially helpful during transitions, independent work time, and moments when students need a quick reset to be ready to learn. One memorable moment was watching a student who was feeling overwhelmed choose a calming tool, take a few minutes to regroup, and then successfully rejoin the lesson with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were excited and curious. They were eager to explore the tools and learn how each one could help them feel calm, focused, or creative. Many students shared that having these options makes them feel supported and understood, and they appreciate having safe ways to manage their feelings in the classroom. It's been encouraging to see students use the tools thoughtfully and independently.\r\n\r\nLastly, students will continue using these tools as part of our daily routines to support self-regulation, focus, and creative expression during reading, writing, and problem-solving activities. While most middle school classrooms do not necessarily have space for a calm corner, my classroom now can offer a space that gives students the option to retreat during moments of anxiety, the need to reflect, or simply to have a safe place to be while still being in the class. In the past, there were many times when students would use the restroom as a means of taking a break. Our new renovated calm corner. I had a group of 4 students who were excited to put the new flooring together!\r\n\r\nIn addition, the many other supplies help to create a calm, clean, and effective classroom. The vacuum is used daily for cleaning desks, the pet space, and the supply areas. The Play-Doh was very timely during a week when students were taking assessments and were allowed to use the Play-Doh as an optional fidget. The large poster paper has been used for group presentations, gallery walks, and brainstorming sessions. \r\n\r\nAll of these are resources that benefit our 80+ 7th graders as well as the 20+ elementary students who use my classroom for afterschool programming.","fullyFundedDate":1758816595291,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-clean-and-meditative-learning/9746072/","projectTitle":"Creating a Clean and Meditative Learning Environment for My Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Louie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9749234_orig.jpg?crop=2972,2972,x0,y9&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726647124139","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9749234"},{"teacherId":10009353,"projectId":9626817,"letterContent":"Our Hoover Huskies just finished their first Winter Show on Dec. 5th. Thank you so very much!\r\n\r\nMy students were really excited when they first saw their folders this fall. For many years we have been re-using the same folders, and they were really beginning to look run down. I often had to peel name stickers off to put another student's name on top. The 3D printer filament has allowed students to bring their digital designs from Tinkercad to life, deepening their understanding of the design process.\r\n\r\nThe laminator has been a huge hit—students love turning their posters, art, and research projects into long-lasting displays for our classroom walls. Our new markers, dry erase sets, and magnetic calendar have helped us stay organized and creative during lessons. The voice amplifier has made instruction more accessible for all students, especially during group work and outdoor projects.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new supplies, they were thrilled—especially the 3D filament and cardboard cutters.
