Even my most reluctant students were eager to participate, their eyes widening as we unboxed the Jelly Blox. One particularly moving moment occurred after our \"Hungry Caterpillar\" story; instead of just listening to the story, my students used the magnetic tiles and lacing beads to build the caterpillar's journey in 3D. Seeing a student with sensory processing needs—who often avoids fine-motor tasks—happily threading beads to represent the \"fruit\" from the book was a powerful testament to how these tactile resources bridge the gap between curiosity and skill improvement.\r\nWe are currently using the treadmill daily as a sensory input/movement break choice, and it has been essential for classroom engagement and safety while navigating the classroom as an alternative to running. Students who feel restless now have a dedicated space to self-regulate, increasing their ability to focus. As for our next steps, we are creating more teacher table activities and task boxes that students can access and complete independently. They were excited when we started getting the materials delivered to our classroom. They came in many different orders, so it was always a surprise to see what kinds of things we were getting in. One project or activity that the students love is the playing cards. I originally was thinking Math games with these cards, but the students love practicing cardistry which has to do with shuffling, riffling, etc. The cards seem to have a calming effect on the kids which is kind of like a fidgety toy for them. The cards also helps with their hand-eye coordination. They look forward to when we bust the cards out and we also do use them for brain breaks and Math games. \r\n\r\nWe are so lucky to have been funded with these great items. The students are interested in music, so of course we have been playing and experimenting with sounds and rhythms which has led me to possibly think about doing an after school music program. I am not trained in music, but I can play some things and I would love to pass this knowledge and gift on to the young learners. I am think of next year to play around with some kind of program, but we'll see what happens.
