These pens will allow students to identify what stations they are working on. Also, the pencils are colored for specific stations. With classrooms sizes of 45-50 these small things like colored pens and pencils can make things like working in stations so much more successful. I was joyfully pestered with questions during every class period until they arrived. When the two giant boxes showed up at the classroom door everyone was eager for a turn to break them in. \r\n\r\nNow that we've had the beanbags for a couple of months they have become a regular part of our reading comfy routine. Students who have most recently finished a book get a turn to sit in them for the day. I am proud to say that so far this year my three English classes have reported finishing a total of 626 books! I know this number is going to grow faster because many kids are motivated by the chance to snag a beanbag for the day. \r\n\r\nI'm also happy to report that the beanbags are incredibly high quality. They are definitely going to last for years to come. For many of them, it's their first introduction to Greek mythology, and they've been absolutely hooked by the action, adventure, and humor. It's also opening up a lot of conversations about personal growth and identity, as Percy's journey mirrors some of the challenges they face such as finding their place in the world, dealing with conflicts, and discovering their identities. These discussions often carry over into other parts of their lives, helping them connect what they read with their own experiences.\r\n\r\nWe read aloud together, and then we dive into discussions, predictions, and creative activities like character drawings or writing alternative endings. Students are actively engaged in the story, and it's amazing how they want to keep reading just to find out what happens next. A few of my students, especially those with a love for mythology, have become real \"experts\" on the gods and creatures we encounter in the book, and it's been so fun to see them bring their research into our classroom conversations.
