Students now use the cozy hideaway space as a calm corner for reading, writing, and emotional regulation. One of the sweetest moments happened during independent reading: a student who often struggles to settle in quietly climbed into the beanbag with their laptop, slipped on the headphones, and whispered, \"This is the first time I can really think.\" Another student who usually hesitates to read aloud practiced fluency inside the canopy, explaining later that \"it feels safe in there.\" These tools have created new opportunities for comfort, confidence, and focus.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reactions were priceless. Several students cheered when they saw the headphones, immediately asking if they could use them during writing time. One child gently touched the canopy and said, \"It looks like a little library hiding spot!\" Another student who often feels overwhelmed stepped into the hideaway and took a deep breath, smiling as they said, \"I needed this today.\" Their excitement and relief showed us just how meaningful the space would become.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our students are beginning a self-paced literacy and digital journaling project. They'll be choosing books, responding with deeper reflections, and using the hideaway space when they need quiet room to reset or focus. The headphones will support students who benefit from reduced noise during drafting and research tasks. Because of your generosity, they now have the tools—and the environment—to do their best thinking, regulate their emotions, and grow as independent learners. We are so grateful for the impact you've made on their daily school experience.","fullyFundedDate":1755690073544,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-hideaways-and-happy-learner/9526050/","projectTitle":"Headphones, Hideaways, and Happy Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Prabakaran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9342481"},{"teacherId":4788048,"projectId":9278086,"letterContent":"The way you have contributed to my classroom has been HUGE!!! Some of them immediately began drawing pictures, tracing letters, and sharing their work proudly with their friends.\r\n\r\nThese resources have made writing time more engaging and fun for my little learners. We've been using the materials to practice making marks, writing our names, and creating picture stories. Even students who were hesitant before are now eager to sit down and \"write,\" because they feel like real authors.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, my students are building the foundation for a love of writing and storytelling at a very young age. Our next steps are to keep using these tools to create class books that we can read together and share with families. I have had many teachers compliment the table and they want one for their classroom. The table also came with blocks that I am excited to change out with my Legos to give the students a new experience. It includes ramps and balls which will encourage mathematical thinking and problem solving skills. For one the Chromebooks were enormous hit, as they can elevate their skills as far as music technology goes. So many have them have a growing interest in music engineering and beat making to create songs, especially the students who are a little uncomfortable singing.\r\n And the drumsticks were a blessing because they are an ongoing need, as I stated earlier all students do not want to sing but love to use the drumsticks for bucket drumming and keeping rhythm. Speaking of rhythm and keeping time the cups are also helpful especially during brain breaks tons of musical games can be used as music is being played to create coordination and teamwork. \r\n And certainly, last but not least as I move my musical program more into the SEL realm the bubbles will be a growing entity even for me, as soft calming music will play the bubbles will be blown to calm the students dealing with anxiety and other emotional topics as well!!! First of all, when I was able to present the books to each student, they were so overjoyed to be able to further their musical literacy in the area of piano and reading music and being able to have a deeper understanding of how music is written and constructed.\r\n As we begin to study through the books, I was able to begin to teach the students about music theory, giving them a better understanding of topics like circle of fifths, intervals and scales, and beginning have the conversation about how arpeggios are simply chords broken up, almost like a different language musically. \r\n These books arrived right before the end of the year, so we were able to incorporate some fingering and musical exercises into various that happen towards the end of the school year such as graduations and the small programs like the moving up ceremonies or Mother Song Brunch.
