These materials help support students' approach towards art education, allowing students to experiment, explore, and build confidence while developing essential artistic skills.\r\n\r\nMany students struggle with traditional acrylic with brushes but by using acrylic markers, it provides students with greater control, allowing them to gain confidence and prevent messes. The markers also allow them to focus on small, neat details and composition. Wax paper is also a key component for our art class because having a surface to experiment and mix colors, students feel more comfortable taking creative risks and learning trial and error. This teaches them the importance of artistic processes rather than perfection. Wax paper is also more convenient than placing paint directly on a palette since it is easier to clean up.\r\n\r\nWhile these materials require expectations for setup and cleanup, these routines also ensure responsibility and safe learning environments. Compared to limited challenges, students benefit by reinforcing student engagement, deeper understanding of artistic concepts, and inclusivity. Although we are only at the beginning of the book, \"Essentialism\" by Greg McKeown, we have already gained valuable insight on priorities, time management, decision-making, self awareness, resilience, and school-life balance. These are lessons that would be much more challenging to learn in another environment. Business and Entrepreneurship classes are ideal for learning about self-help.\r\nTypically, we read for 15 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday at the beginning of class, and discuss the highlights of the readings. It is then that my students get to express their understanding and interpretation of the text and we expand our learning by connecting our real world experiences and applying the lessons in situational context. They embrace the spirited discussions and academic engagement. Shwetashree, Damarys, and Allyson read ahead and are always ready to participate and sometimes take the lead on discussions. They prompt me to expand the dimensions of discussions to college level. We prepare students for careers in Business and the Arts industries by providing them with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to succeed in the workforce.\r\nMy classroom hosts the Virtual Enterprise program - an intensive curriculum, with competitive interscholastic programming in which students compete in several categories of business competition including the Business Plan, Marketing, Human Resources, Elevator Pitch, Accounting and Finance, E-Commerce, Sales Pitch, and several more. The donations we received from DonorsChoose and our donors have been uplifting and inspiring.\r\nWe are currently using the LED mirror as a critical prop for our 2025 company, INNOVA, a healthcare technology startup that developed SoulCare, an innovative AI-powered smart mirror curated to improve the health and wellness of users by discreetly monitoring users physical, emotional, and mental metrics then highlighting personal insights and early wellness concerns.\r\nWe use the shirt-press for creating our merchandise, t-shirts and sweatshirts, for trade shows and promotions. The safety vests are for security and safety when we go outside the school facility to take pictures or create marketing footage. The other tools and equipment is used every day in our virtual business operations. Together, our supplies have given our students real-life connection to the workplace, delivered confidence to students as they compete against the nation's best schools, and created a higher level of collaboration among students.\r\nWe use the book \"Essentialism\" to help build decisiveness and independence as students prepare for post-high school pursuits.
