This project meant so much to me. As a school counselor, it is my role to help students in every way possible. Many times we have students that have accidents and they need a change of clothing quickly without embarrassing them. Having a community closet with extra clothing is so important. I also appreciate the closet and bins that were given so that the closet is organized and I can see what is inside and when I need replacements and more clothing and undergarments. \r\nIn addition, we have students who come from houses that can't afford uniforms and we don't want them to be different than other students so having uniforms to give them makes them feel better that they can fit in. We recently had a student coming to school with a swim shirt everyday. When I asked him if he had a uniform shirt, he said no. I asked him if I can give him some and he was so happy. This made me feel so good. Since then, he has been wearing a uniform shirt everyday. \r\nWe also have students who are immigrants and come here with nothing and are in need of uniforms. By being able to make my students pancakes on our school machine which we got from donors choose last year, you allow us to have a nutritious breakfast that all the students enjoy to their liking. When we put fresh fruit on it, we also teach the students about healthier eating choices and the importance of eating healthy instead of some of the junk they sometimes have at home. Habinh Clorox wipes and tissues really helps my classroom stay clean and healthy so we stop spreading germs.
