One of the biggest impacts has been having more choices that meet our students' different sensory and learning needs. The new bean bag lounger has quickly become a comfortable space for students to relax, look at books, or take a break when their bodies need a moment to regulate. The sensory rocking chair has also given our students a safe way to get the movement they may be seeking while still remaining part of the classroom environment. For our young learners with autism and other developmental needs, having these choices available throughout the day has made such a meaningful difference.\r\n\r\nWe have also been having so much fun exploring music, art, and literacy with our new resources. Our students have been able to experiment with our music puzzle, sounds, colors, paints, crayons, and markers while practicing important skills like taking turns, making choices, communicating, and using their fine motor skills. The Friendly Caterpillar story props have made story time more interactive and give our students another way to participate, especially when sitting and listening to a traditional read-aloud can be difficult. Seeing their excitement when they realized these were materials they could actually touch, explore, and use was one of our favorite moments.\r\n\r\nOur next step is continuing to intentionally incorporate these materials into our daily routines and lessons. We want our students to become more independent in recognizing what helps them learn and regulate, while continuing to build communication, social-emotional, creative, and early academic skills through play. These materials have given Ms. Victoria and me more ways to meet our students where they are instead of expecting every child to learn in the same way. We are incredibly grateful that you chose to invest in our classroom and our kiddos. Your generosity isn't just sitting on a classroom shelf.. we are using it, learning from it, creating with it, and enjoying it every day. They are building a gross motor skills and creating memories through imagination. They are also able to interact with their peers wow climbing on the Safari truck and pretending to drive. Adding the truck to our playground has been a big hit and has given the kids more to participate in. We are so given the for the donors and I can't wait to share impact letters and photos .
