With these tools, students have more opportunities to play together, practice teamwork, and build positive relationships. They've learned how to include others, communicate respectfully, and show kindness on and off the playground. These shared activities have created a sense of community that carries back into the classroom, helping students feel more connected and confident when working with their peers.\r\n\r\nHaving access to snacks has also made a meaningful difference in students' ability to focus and stay engaged throughout the morning. When students aren't distracted by hunger, they are better able to concentrate on lessons, participate in discussions, and advocate for their needs in healthy ways. By keeping their stomachs filled until lunchtime, the snacks support both their well-being and their academic success. Together, the equipment and snacks have created a more positive, supportive, and productive learning environment for all.","fullyFundedDate":1758241168413,"projectUrl":"project/pe-equipment-to-increase-mental-health/9581825/","projectTitle":"PE Equipment to Increase Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Egege","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5810523_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1536176209532","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-egege"},{"teacherId":10197061,"projectId":9630886,"letterContent":"Thank you SO much for your donation to our art classroom at Hawthorn Academy! The money you gave to my class project helped my first graders in so many ways. The items purchased would not have been part of our class without your help.\r\nThe one thing my students are loving the most is their new carpet. It is bright and adds so much to our room. It is large enough for them to have a spot of their own, so they know where to go when it is time to work away from their tables. It has already helped with behavior management. \r\nMy first graders have also loved using the other materials such as the pencil holders, pencil grips, and stress strips at their tables. I work with students with diverse abilities and finding things that help keep them engaged and participating can be difficult. Thankfully, all my students love to draw and love using color to enhance their work. My students struggle with comprehending the passages they read and I have been looking for something I can use that is engaging and fun to help them. The first time I pulled out the sketch books and pencils, they were hooked!\r\n Since then, we have used our \"comprehension notebooks\" and pencils to break down each sentence into the important parts and then draw those details in a comic book or graphic novel type format. With each new passage, we read the passage together, then take each sentence one at a time, talk about the important details and then create colorful drawings that help us remember what that sentence talked about. \r\n When we are finished, we use our drawings to retell the story. Their drawings help them remember many more details that they were able to before we started. I have also noticed that when they take their comprehension quiz on the passages they have drawn, they do much better remembering and understanding what they read. It has been magical and so fun to watch and do!!","fullyFundedDate":1733202486427,"projectUrl":"project/motivation-through-art/8727792/","projectTitle":"Motivation Through Art","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jackson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1973538_orig.png?crop=404,405,x0,y41&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628712309300","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1973538"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108574","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":621,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":91.4,"schoolId":108574,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hawthorn Academy South Jordan on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hawthorn Academy South Jordan","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/utah-department-of-education/hawthorn-academy-south-jordan/108574"}
