They are here! Our new musical instruments ae here! When this project funded, I was sadly informed by DonorsChoose staff that the hand chimes I requested were out of stock and the supplier was not sure when they would be back in stock again, so we had to pick some new items to take their place. I was disappointed at first, but this gave me a chance to look through our classroom inventory and see what else we could benefit from in the music room and decided to get a couple more glockenspiels! These unique musical instruments will allow us to play along with songs just like the hand chimes were going to! These glockenspiels are rainbow colored, with each note a different color. This will help our littlest learners easily find the notes that they are supposed to play because I can tell them a color to find instead of just memorizing a spot on the instrument (since they are just now learning how to read sheet music). I am so excited to implement these instruments into our lessons soon after our Spring Break and I could not have done this without your help! Many of these families qualify for these services and depend on them each week to help take care of their families. Through your gift, we were able to offer them some additional support this week to replenish any needs they might have from the days we were out of school due to the ice and freezing temperatures in our area in early February. We will also be able to send additional food items home the Friday before Spring Break in a couple of weeks because you gave us more supplies to support them with. In many areas of music education, hand bells and hand chimes are a \"dying art.\" I am glad to offer it to my students and \"keep it alive.\" \r\n\r\nI doubt any of our elementary students will have an experience like that in their future, but I hope getting to learn to play these hand chimes and the hand bells we already have in our music classroom is still an equally enjoyable experience for them as it was for me at their ages.
