Because of your support, our classroom has been transformed into a more vibrant, engaging, and creative learning environment. Your donation of Magna-Tiles, puzzles, wooden circle ornaments, clipboards, and LCD display tablets has touched every corner of our daily routine.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the atmosphere in the room was electric. My students gathered around with wide eyes, whispering guesses about what was inside. When I finally revealed the Magna-Tiles and the LCD tablets, a literal cheer went up! One student shouted, \"It's like a toy store, but for school!\" That initial spark of joy has since turned into a deep, daily enthusiasm for learning.\r\n\r\nWe have wasted no time putting these tools to good use. We use our Magna tiles to build and create during Math and STEM blocks. The puzzles have become our go-to \"morning bins,\" helping students settle in and sharpen their spatial reasoning skills before we get the day started.\r\n\r\nThe clipboards have freed us from our desks. We now take \"learning walks\" around the school to record observations. The LCD tablets are our go to during ELA carpet bocks and have replaced scratch paper for math drills and quick sketches, which the kids find incredibly \"high-tech\" and fun.\r\n\r\nYour gifts have provided more than just \"stuff\", they have provided opportunities for my students to think like engineers, artists, and scholars. The sensory toys and supplies have been incredibly beneficial for our most vulnerable populations to access the educational environment, demonstrate their skills, and explore toys in sensory-friendly ways. \r\n\r\nMost recently, we have used these supplies during our group counseling sessions. Our students use some of them as fidgets to meet sensory needs or as part of calming strategies during times of dysregulation. Our group of 3rd graders loved using the various textured balls, visual lava toys, and magnetic toys during their weekly group sessions to manage impulsiveness. \r\n\r\nMany of these supplies focus on our early childhood group and allow them equal access to the educational environment in sensory-friendly ways. These supplies have made it possible for our team to evaluate their strengths and needs in a more equitable way that allows them to showcase their abilities despite any sensory challenges. \r\n\r\nThis would not be possible without Donors Choose, and I'm so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1759547255559,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-exploration-for-young-learners/9780211/","projectTitle":"Sensory Exploration for Young Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mackey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10005365"},{"teacherId":10067322,"projectId":9777172,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support of our classroom. Students are learning how to select books that are a good fit for their interests and reading levels, read with purpose, and reflect thoughtfully on what they've read through discussion and written responses. These texts support both skill development and a growing love of reading.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is flexible, student-centered, and welcoming. With the addition of flexible seating, students are able to choose reading spaces where they feel most focused and comfortable. Some students curl up with a book in a cozy seat, while others read at tables or work alongside a partner. This choice has helped students increase reading stamina, remain engaged for longer periods of time, and take greater ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled to stay engaged during reading time are especially enjoying the new books and seating options. I have seen students who once avoided reading now eagerly selecting books and remaining focused throughout reading block. Your contribution has made a meaningful impact on my students and the way they learn each day.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the new resources regularly during our instruction and independent work time, and they have already made a noticeable difference. One especially meaningful moment was seeing students independently use the materials to stay focused, engaged, and productive during a lesson. Students who often struggle with self-regulation were able to remain on task for longer periods of time, while others used the resources to challenge themselves and deepen their thinking. These materials have helped create a more structured, supportive learning environment where all students can feel successful.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. They were curious, eager to explore, and proud to have new tools to support their learning. Many students expressed gratitude and took special care of the materials, understanding that they were provided through the kindness of donors. It was wonderful to see their excitement turn into purposeful and responsible use.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue to use these resources during small-group instruction, independent practice, and collaborative activities. Our next steps include helping students reflect on how these tools support their focus, independence, and motivation. When the shaved ice machine was added to our PBIS store, students began asking what specific positive behaviors they needed to demonstrate to earn their first treat.\r\n\r\nThis resource has completely revitalized our school culture by turning every positive choice into a step toward a refreshing celebration. We've noticed that even our most reluctant learners are now setting personal goals to stay on track, driven by the pride of walking back to class with a colorful treat.
