The variety of genres, from novels to poetry and even coloring books, has opened new doors for our students, expanding their knowledge and fostering self-expression. These books have taught them valuable lessons about identity, resilience, and the importance of representation, encouraging them to see themselves in the stories they read and boosting their confidence and creativity.\r\n\r\nSince being added to our library's newly arrived shelf, these books have quickly become favorites. Students are excited to check them out and share their thoughts with each other. Many are amazed to discover local Hispanic authors whose stories reflect their own experiences. One student shared how they never realized authors from our region could write so meaningfully about their lives. Others have been inspired by the coloring books, using them as a way to relax and express their creativity, with one student even dreaming of publishing their own artwork one day. Students have their coloring books with them and enjoy coloring them in our Community Coloring Table every chance they visit the library.\r\n\r\nThis collection has not only enriched our library but also helped diversify our resources in a way that truly resonates with our students. They are connecting more deeply with their culture, learning new perspectives, and feeling inspired to pursue their own creative passions. We are so thankful for your support in making this possible and for providing our students with these valuable learning experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1730397717834,"projectUrl":"project/diverse-books-inspires-a-readers-day/8829146/","projectTitle":"Diverse Books Inspires a Reader's Day!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ozuna","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6032030_orig.png?crop=780,780,x0,y59&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727326662216","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6032030"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101091","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":770,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":101091,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Grulla High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Grulla High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/rio-grande-city-independent-school-district/grulla-high-school/101091"}
