I don't know if I am doing this correctly, but I have a student who uses a wheelchair for mobility. She is severely handicapped and about a year ago she had back surgery. She is healing very well and is now happy to be back in school. Her mom informed me that she was now having lots of back pain because her daughter is getting very heavy. She said that sometimes she can't carry her and might have to leave her home. I told her she needed to talk to her wheelchair provider about getting her a hoyer lift and she said their insurance doesn't cover it because her medication is very expensive.
