The calming strips have been especially popular, and we love that they provide students with a discreet way to practice coping skills without creating distractions during classroom time.\r\nThe students' reactions to the new resources have been priceless! Many were excited to try something they had never experienced before, while others immediately asked where they could get their own. Seeing their curiosity and excitement reminded us just how meaningful these simple resources can be.\r\nOur mission is to help students develop healthy coping and emotional regulation skills that they can use anywhere, not just inside The Well. We hope that each student leaves with at least one strategy they can carry with them and use when needed.\r\nOur next step is to continue encouraging students to take what they learn in The Well beyond our doors and practice these skills at home, in the classroom, and throughout their everyday lives. The moment they realized we had an instant camera setup for our new \"Employee of the Month\" recognition and sweet treats for on-the-spot positive behavior, the energy in the room completely shifted. They immediately began asking how they could earn the first spot in the frame, and I instantly noticed students going out of their way to help peers set up science lab equipment, keep their work areas clean, and demonstrate great citizenship.\r\n\r\nWe have already put these resources to incredible use across my science classes and \"Students at Work\" (SAW) advisory. The immediate recognition system has completely elevated our classroom culture. Just recently, we celebrated our very first Employee of the Month. When I snapped their instant photo with the camera, placed it inside the new frame next to their printed certificate, and awarded them a treat, the entire class broke into spontaneous applause. Seeing a physical, instant photo of themselves displayed prominently in the classroom has given my students a tangible sense of workplace pride and validation that standard digital points just couldn't replicate.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps are to integrate this positive momentum directly into our upcoming hands-on lab units and expanded campus leadership roles. Many of our students come from Afghan families where cricket is a huge part of life, and several immediately recognized the equipment and started sharing how they play with their families and friends outside of school. It was really special to see those students light up and feel proud to bring a sport they love into our PE class. At the same time, many other students who had never played cricket before were excited to learn something completely new.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment came during our first small games. Some of the students who already knew the game began helping teach their classmates how to bat, bowl, and run between the wickets. It quickly turned into a great example of peer leadership and cultural sharing. Students who had experience with cricket became the \"experts\" for the day, and their classmates were eager to learn from them. The energy on the field was amazing, with students cheering for big hits and celebrating successful runs.\r\n\r\nRight now, students are building their skills in batting, bowling, and fielding while learning the rules and strategies of the game. Over the next few weeks, we will continue playing modified games that emphasize teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.
