Social emotional learning is one of the most important aspects of a child's development. It helps us develop healthy identities, manage emotions, build healthy relationships and achieve our goals. With everything going on in our world this past year, our students have expressed that they want to be more confident, increase their motivation, and reduce anxiety and stress. The donations from this project will help our students learn how to feel, fuel, and function by practicing self-care through yoga and mindfulness, and improve self-confidence and social skills from learning how to cook and sew. By implementing this social emotional group, we will be able to utilize these items for years to come and reach 30-40 students a year. We will get to work with them on a personal level to increase their self-esteem, practice self-care and teach them skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
