The donation directly touched 120+ fifth grade students, but the entire school is buzzing about the chicks. Your donation has enabled students to witness the hatching of the eggs right before their eyes. From start to finish, this project was so memorable for my students and I am truly grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nOur incubation unit covers so much more than hatching chicks. Today our first grade buddies came to our room, and working with a fifth grade friend, were able to describe their chicks to learn about adjectives while choosing a name for their special chick. Some of our kindergarten friends joined us while the fifth grade students held the chicks. It is amazing to watch the big kids and little kids all working together. In math we practiced graphing and when done carefully it resulted in a picture of a chick. Our science lessons this week revolved around Salmonella which prompted more than one fifth grade student to remind their little buddies to use hand sanitizer after touching the chicks.\r\n\r\nSo yes, you provided the incubators that allowed us to hatch chicks, but actually you have given us so much more. This adventure has taught us to communicate with friends of different ages, has built life lessons, and has encouraged us to care about others. Thank you for your very generous donation. I can't wait to do the incubation unit again next year with a whole new bunch of students!","fullyFundedDate":1774443282961,"projectUrl":"project/incubating-teamwork/10164102/","projectTitle":"Incubating Teamwork","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp781707_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1542658712186","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/781707"},{"teacherId":8368300,"projectId":9805742,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for your generous donation to our classroom 3-D printer. We have done a lot of printing over the past few months. It has been a learning experience, but it has been fun. We have made many items. One of the favorite is a set of fidgets that have multiplication and division basic facts upon them. I made a set for each 3rd grade classroom and have heard many wonderful things. Students enjoy the fact that it is a fidget, but also something that can help them learn.We have also made several fidgets for our classroom as well as other students in the building (and even a few at the high school per a request of the special ed department). This has allowed these students to have a release while learning, allowing them to focus more on the lesson. Other fun items that were made include items for our HAWK shop. Bookmarks, keychains, and flyers were created as rewards for student behavior. Infinity cubes were made for prizes during math and homeroom games. I have also had a request from our custodial department, asking to create a few items to help with encasing the fire alarm switches, making it secure from accidental release. And finally, our Elf-on-the-Shelf got involved and made himself a glider to show off and entertain the kids at Christmas! More printing is sure to come. More learning is sure to come as well. It is my hope that this summer, I can learn more 3-D design and soon be able to teach the kids so they imagine and create even more!","fullyFundedDate":1760709048467,"projectUrl":"project/math-science-and-fidgets-oh-my/9805742/","projectTitle":"Math, Science, and Fidgets - Oh My!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. James Phillips","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8368300_orig.jpg?crop=1944,1944,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1667494090802","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8368300"},{"teacherId":5276325,"projectId":5391534,"letterContent":"When my kindergarten students first saw the new social-emotional learning materials, they were filled with excitement and curiosity. They immediately gathered around the dollhouse people, furniture, and accessories, eager to begin playing and pretending together. Many students could not wait to share ideas for imaginary play, while others excitedly flipped through the feelings books and pointed out emotions they recognized. The Play-Doh shape tools quickly became a favorite as students enthusiastically created faces, shapes, and imaginative creations while talking and laughing with classmates.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these resources, we have been using them daily during centers, morning meetings, and social-emotional learning activities. One especially meaningful moment happened during dramatic play when a group of students used the dollhouse figures to act out a conflict and practice ways to solve the problem kindly. Students used feeling words from our posters and books to explain how the characters felt and worked together to come up with solutions. It was wonderful to watch them apply empathy, communication, and cooperation skills so naturally through play.\r\n\r\nThese materials have helped create a more supportive and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and connecting with others. My students are building important social-emotional skills while also strengthening creativity, language development, and fine motor skills through hands-on learning experiences each day.","fullyFundedDate":1613055659273,"projectUrl":"project/understanding-and-learning-how-to-respon/5391534/","projectTitle":"Understanding and Learning how to Respond to Emotions","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ryberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5276325_orig.jpg?crop=470,470,x2997,y860&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691382424709","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5276325"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38249","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":803,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":75.7,"schoolId":38249,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Greenfield Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Greenfield Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/wisconsin/baldwin-woodville-area-sd/greenfield-elementary-school/38249"}
