It allows me to move from one instructional slide to the other from any point in the classroom. I am no longer positioned at the front of the room. We are using them to hold and organize our textbooks. These books are extremely heavy and we were lacking organization for them in my new classroom. The students are super excited and several of them throughout the day organize the shelves neatly so the books can be easily found. I do not even need to ask them to do it as they are so excited about the shelves, they take it upon themselves. \r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the shelves. I and one of the custodians built them within one afternoon, so the kids had them in the room the next day. The one near the front of the room also holds their weekly assignments on the top. Students worked in small groups to physically build equations before solving them on paper, which helped connect abstract concepts to something they could see and touch. The manipulatives have become an essential part of our learning routine, especially for students who benefit from visual and hands-on exploration.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement filled the room. They eagerly opened boxes, sorted pieces, and immediately began experimenting with how they could represent different math ideas. Several students commented that the manipulatives made the math feel \"real\" and \"easier to understand,\" and for many, it was the first time they felt confident taking on challenging problems. The atmosphere quickly shifted to one of curiosity, teamwork, and productive conversation.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these manipulatives as we transition into solving linear equations and exploring proportional relationships in greater depth.
