Students coded their Dash robots to simulate a Macy's Day Parade, designing and attaching their own creative floats while programming the robots to follow a specific path. For many, this was their first opportunity to see how coding can bring movement and imagination together, and they were highly engaged throughout the activity.\r\nThe project allowed students to practice sequencing, problem-solving, and debugging their code while also exercising artistic expression in designing the floats. As the robots paraded through the classroom, students celebrated their success and took pride in their teamwork and creativity. The activity showed students that coding can be both fun and meaningful, sparking interest in STEM while also connecting to real-world events in a playful, memorable way. For many students, this was their very first exposure to coding, and they expressed excitement at seeing their programs come to life on the devices. This real-time data collection helped them see how technology can be used to explore and understand their environment, fostering curiosity and encouraging problem-solving skills.
