There were gasps of delight and excited cheers as they crowded around the boxes to see what was inside! It made them feel incredibly special, valued, and so excited to learn through play. \r\n\r\nWe jumped right into using the resources during our outdoor movement and math lessons. One of the most rewarding moments was watching a student who normally stays on the sidelines completely blossom during our bean bag and ring toss activities. Having these vibrant, physical materials gave them the confidence to step up, count their points aloud, and cheer on their peers. Another huge highlight was the stomp rockets—seeing the students collaborate, take turns, and cheer each other on was pure joy. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps are to use these materials to build foundational TK skills like sharing, emotional regulation, and fine and gross motor development. We will be working in small groups with the large blocks to practice cooperation and spatial awareness, using the sidewalk chalk for tracing and pre-writing grip practice, and using the bubble wands to practice deep, calming breaths together. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided us with essential active learning tools but has also re-energized our entire classroom community. They also loved the quality and variety of colors, which made them even more excited to use them for their assignments and projects.\r\n\r\nWhat makes your donation even more special is that the impact has continued into this new school year. A new group of students is now using and enjoying these colored pencils as well. We use them for illustrations, diagrams, classroom projects, and assignments across different subjects. The new resources opened new ways to teach letters, sounds, writing, and more!\r\nTo support fine motor hand muscles, I introduced pencil grips to those students that needed that extra support. It was easy and a fun way to demonstrate correct pencil grip. In addition, I utilized the grip with the fun new rainbow pencils and smile top pencils. These instantly became favorites! Sometimes using a pencil to practice writing can be \"boring,\" but these new pencils definitely brought motivation and excitement. \r\nThe Learning Without Tears materials are wonderful. The puppet was engaging to teach all about \"magic c.\" The CD had fun, entertaining, educational songs to teach all about writing. The Blackboard with Double Lines, Trays for the Roll-A-Dough Letters, and Show Me Magnetic Pieces for Capitals all complemented the program nicely as we practiced different ways to build and write the letters. Sometimes the students got a little more creative and used them to spell their names or their friends' names. \r\nNew materials for hands on learning such as the zoo phonics board game, letter tracing sensory pad, and letter matching ice cream cones were also most exciting for the kids because they thought it was play, but really we were doing both, playing and learning!\r\nThank you for this opportunity in donating new learning materials!","fullyFundedDate":1774963837767,"projectUrl":"project/building-strong-readers-and-writers-one/10042822/","projectTitle":"Building Strong Readers and Writers, One Letter at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Salmeron","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3010041_orig.jpg?crop=693,693,x412,y132&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1578772817576","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-ysalmeron"},{"teacherId":3010041,"projectId":10194573,"letterContent":"My students were enthusiastic when they saw the big packages arrive to the class. It was nice to see we are able to bring more Art outdoors now that we have this easel. The best part is that we can have 4 students using it at a time. \r\nThe jumbo linking cubes were so much fun.
