My goal is to provide authentic literature of leaders that helped to change laws or empower our communities through social justice as well as the arts. I want fun and meaningful literature that teaches the meaning of fairness, courage and above all kindness. “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”-Martin Luther King Jr. In addition, as a teacher, I am obsessed with cultivating a love of reading in my students. I love to read and would like my students to have the same passion. In small groups we will read each part of the book. We will look up the words, ideas, and places that they are not familiar with. This will encourage discussions on questions and gives students an opportunity to share.
