They continued to ask about when they could use them and how often. We use our supplies as often as possible now and I have seen my students improve, especially our 6th graders, by leaps and bounds by just having these simple practice pads and supplies. \r\n\r\nWe are going to continue to push our students for harder, more technical music as they progress as musicians. My students were surprised to see the fidget bands on every chair. I have students who bounce their feet and this causes a distraction especially on our wood floors. The bands help keep their feet busy and help them focus. We rarely hear the tapping of feet during our school day. The orange fidget chair cushions have helped my students control their movement in their chairs. Their absolute favorite things are the hand fidgets. My students were so excited when the packages arrived with all of the little goodies. It gave them incentive to do the right thing so they can earn the rewards. Especially popular are the squeezable monster faces fidgets. They get to pick the one they want when they do something extra special. One way to earn it is by reading their library book when they don't know what else to do. In the beginning of the year most kids would just talk and visit, while I had one student do the right thing. \r\n\r\nCandy is always a winner for rewards. We play a game where tables compete by earning points for doing the right thing or deleting points for doing otherwise. It meant a lot to all of us, truly.\r\n\r\nWe have already used the aprons and glasses during our pumpkin carving lab, which let students get messy, creative, and hands-on while staying fully protected. We used this lab to learn about food webs and decomposers. Soon we will be using this gear even more as we start building our classroom volcanoes and begin working with chemical reactions. We opened the boxes and made sure that each group had all the items they needed to complete our experiment. \r\n\r\nDuring the experiment, my students were so excited but did a great job following directions. I think they felt like true scientists because of the new fancy equipment they got to use-graduated cylinders, beakers, droppers, etc. My class learned so much about density from this experiment and also practiced working in lab groups. Because of your generosity, I will be able to complete this lab with my students each year. I already have all of the equipment organized and stored for this year's group of students.
