The students were excited to hear that there are people out there donating to our classroom and who are invested in our learning environment.\r\n\r\nI have a portion on my wall that is dedicated to interchangeable anchor charts that we use with any unit that we touch that is relevant to those anchor charts. The markers have been used heavily! We have already gone through half of the box given because we work so much on whiteboards when addressing their individual goals. The pocket folder system and folders have been utilized to create individualized folders for each student's individual accommodation needs. With all the manipulatives we have been able to use more concrete models to help students achieve their academic goals more quickly!\r\n\r\nIn the future, we are planning to use the math manipulatives, like the fraction circles and geometric solids, to tackle more complex problem-solving tasks. Having a well-stocked, organized, and clean environment allows my students to focus entirely on their growth. The first is that the pop-its can be used not only for emotional and sensory regulation, but they are a great manipulative tool for solving math problems. We also like to use the squishy balls for fun group activities! The BEST part of finally having these tools in my classroom is I've been able to set up a calm down corner for my special friends who need a little extra help regulating their emotions when they get overly stimulated. We recently took our annual state assessment and privacy dividers were nothing short of a game changer! They helped students have a sense of privacy, improved focus, and minimized the chances of distractions or academic dishonesty. \r\n\r\n Additionally, I have several students in my class this year who suffer from extreme sensory issues. Loud or excessive noise is very triggering for them and the noise cancelling headphones have become an integral part of our daily routines. They have been great for keeping students focused during online assessments and during independent work time. They help reduce distractions and help maintain a quiet classroom environment.\r\n\r\n Finally, the additional of the reading manipulatives (such as the whisper phones, line readers, and pointers) have completely changed the dynamics of our small group instruction and intervention time to strengthen phonemic awareness, decoding skills, and fluency. I've seen a tremendous increase in engagement and focus which shows me the tools are doing their job! \r\n\r\n Words cannot express how eternally grateful we are for your generosity.
