It has allowed more students to join the dramatic play area at a time as well.\r\nThey were so excited to see these new additions to our dramatic play area. My students were so excited to have a brand-new table in our classroom! It has provided a place for students to gather together to work in pairs, to work in small groups, and a place to work in peace when they need a change of pace from their desks. \r\n\r\nI have worked with small groups of students to target skills that some students need extra practice with. The table has also been a fantastic place for students to dry some of their artwork! \r\n\r\nBefore we had this table we were using a tiny rectangle table that could only fit three students. Students are so excited to utilize the outdoor classroom in all kinds of weather! When it rains they have a place to go outside that is sheltered! This is especially helpful on Wednesdays when both the AM and PM classes (who share a classroom) are here at the same time. Having 40 children in one room is a lot and can be overwhelming to students. Now we have an extra space to spread out to. When the weather warms up we will be able to play under the shade without getting sunburned. First of the all, the vendor who sold them was amazing! They saved the items for me until my project was funded. The magnetic boards and magnet tiles are very heavy-duty, and I expect them to last for years.\r\n\r\n\tWe started using the boards as soon as they arrived. The students loved them right away, and they have been a regular part of our phonics practice ever since. I use them with my regular classroom students and also for my intervention students. My intervention students specifically ask for them, so I know they find them to be a helpful learning tool! \r\n\r\n\tI really love how these boards provide hands-on learning for so many different levels. For some, just searching for the correct letter tile presents a challenge. For most students, spelling the word correctly sound-by-sound is an appropriate challenge. My stronger students like to figure out which letter of the current word can be changed to make a new word. In this way, all students are engaged with learning while we are using these boards.\r\n\r\n\tIn January, our class will begin learning r-controlled vowels. This can be a difficult concept, and it takes a lot of practice for students to master these spellings. I know the magnetic letter boards will be a big help in building their understanding of this concept. \r\n\r\n\tThank you again for your generosity in supporting this project.","fullyFundedDate":1727983700613,"projectUrl":"project/orthographic-tile-kits-for-first-grade-r/8687949/","projectTitle":"Orthographic Tile Kits for First Grade Reading and Writing","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tewell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp742672_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1538352937979","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/742672"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4266","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":672,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":9,"percentAsian":53,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"23.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":93.8,"schoolId":4266,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Golden View Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Golden View Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-ramon-valley-unified-school-district/golden-view-elementary-school/4266"}
