Through this book, The Wanderers, we have been able to connect with students at a level that will push their reading and English Language Arts skills.\r\n\r\nWe have been able to connect with students to practice inferencing. Oftentimes, books that are too familiar or that have been made into blockbuster movies, the students already know what happens. It makes it hard to practice inferencing. This book allows us to use predictions. We can also use evidence for those predictions without already knowing what will happen. \r\n\r\nThis book also uses incredible figurative language skills. Lots of similes, metaphors, and fantastic adjectives. This gives such good examples for their own writing skills. The Wanderers also has great characters that can be compared and contrasted with each other, or even compared with students in their own lives. This book also has wonderful words with many syllables, so it can even challenge some of my high-level readers.\r\n\r\nAs these students read this book together and use their creative thinking to picture this book, they are learning to LOVE to read!","fullyFundedDate":1757570385529,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-read-by-loving-to-read/9356188/","projectTitle":"Learning to Read by Loving to Read!!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mckee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7716064_orig.jpg?crop=1896,1896,x0,y139&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1610147636612","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7716064"},{"teacherId":10068938,"projectId":9442778,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredibly generous support of our classroom. Because of your kindness and belief in our students, our learning environment has been positively transformed in meaningful and lasting ways. Your donation of STEM toys, headphones, and teacher supplies has had a direct impact on both student engagement and daily classroom success, and I am deeply grateful.\r\n\r\nThe STEM toys you provided have opened the door to hands-on, creative learning experiences that go far beyond traditional instruction. My students now have opportunities to explore problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and perseverance in a way that feels exciting and empowering. These materials encourage curiosity and creativity while helping students build confidence as they test ideas, make mistakes, and try again. I have already seen students who may struggle during traditional lessons shine during STEM activities, discovering strengths they didn't realize they had.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have made a tremendous difference in supporting individualized learning. In our classroom, students work at a wide range of academic levels, and having access to headphones allows them to focus during independent work, listen to reading passages, practice fluency, and engage with educational technology without distractions. For many students, this has increased both confidence and independence. It has also created a calmer, more focused classroom environment where all learners can succeed at their own pace.\r\n\r\nThe teacher supplies you donated may seem small, but they play an essential role in keeping our classroom running smoothly and effectively. Having the proper materials allows me to spend less time worrying about resources and more time focused on what matters most—teaching, connecting with students, and meeting their individual needs. Your support helps ensure that lessons are well-prepared, organized, and engaging every single day.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your generosity has sent a powerful message to my students: they are valued, supported, and worthy of investment. Knowing that people outside of our classroom care about their education has made a lasting impression on them. They take pride in using these materials and understand that they are part of something bigger than themselves.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and helping create an environment where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to learn. Your donation has made a real difference, and its impact will continue to be felt throughout the school year and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1758849341225,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-thriving-building-a-hands-on/9442778/","projectTitle":"Tools for Thriving: Building a Hands-On Second Grade Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Finneran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10068938_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y80&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759006055746","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10068938"},{"teacherId":9146336,"projectId":8344472,"letterContent":"Thank you for your help!
