Using the new art materials, students transformed ordinary rocks into bright, cheerful works of art filled with encouraging words, positive messages, and colorful designs. One of the most meaningful parts of the project was watching students think carefully about what someone else might need to hear. Messages like \"You matter,\" \"Keep going,\" and \"You've got this!\" became more than words on a rock—they became small gifts meant to brighten someone's day. My students were so excited to know that their artwork would leave the art room and become part of our larger school community.\r\n\r\nThe materials also gave us the opportunity to explore kindness in another form through origami cranes. Students practiced patience and perseverance as they learned each fold, then paired their cranes with handwritten affirmations and encouraging notes. They loved the idea that someone might unexpectedly discover one of their creations in the school and feel noticed, supported, or simply a little happier. I saw students take tremendous pride in making something for another person instead of creating only for themselves.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue finding ways for art to build connections throughout our school. Students will place their painted rocks and origami messages where others can discover them, and we will talk about the reactions and kindness that ripple outward from those small gestures. This project has shown my students that art can do more than decorate a space—it can communicate care, build empathy, and help someone feel like they belong. Thank you for giving my students the materials and opportunity to use their creativity to make our school community a kinder place.","fullyFundedDate":1778002690597,"projectUrl":"project/kindness-project-spreading-kindness-thr/10190645/","projectTitle":"Kindness Project: Spreading Kindness Through Art and Nature","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9377748_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1712973885424","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9377748"},{"teacherId":9377748,"projectId":10091739,"letterContent":"Your generosity has made such a meaningful difference in our art classroom. For many of my students, art is the place where they feel free to be themselves—where quiet voices are heard, big feelings have a safe outlet, and confidence grows one brushstroke at a time. Using our new watercolors, quality paper, paint, and other materials, students have been creating colorful watercolor studies, still-life drawings, nature scenes, and animal-inspired artwork. They have loved having materials that allow them to experiment with color, layering, texture, and their own ideas. Seeing the pride on their faces when they finish a piece is one of my favorite parts of teaching: \"I made this!\"\r\n\r\nThese resources are especially important because not every student has access to art supplies at home. In our classroom, every child gets the same opportunity to explore, make mistakes, try again, and create something that is truly their own. The materials have helped students slow down, notice details, make artistic choices, and take greater pride in their work. More importantly, they help my students feel valued and capable. Art becomes more than an assignment—it becomes a way for students to communicate, build confidence, and discover that their ideas matter.\r\n\r\nWe are excited to continue building on these skills in our upcoming projects. Students will keep exploring watercolor and painting techniques while creating artwork connected to nature, culture, their classroom learning, and their own experiences. With each new project, I hope to give them more opportunities for creative choice and self-expression. Thank you for giving my young artists a voice, a sense of belonging, and the tools to let their imaginations shine. Your donation didn't just provide art supplies—it helped create a classroom where every student has the opportunity to feel like an artist.","fullyFundedDate":1776093105561,"projectUrl":"project/watercolor-supplies-for-our-spring-proje/10091739/","projectTitle":"Watercolor Supplies for Our Spring Projects","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9377748_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1712973885424","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9377748"},{"teacherId":9093743,"projectId":10159806,"letterContent":"These headphones will have an immediate impact on learning in our classroom. These headphones will help create a quieter, more focused learning environment where students can take ownership of their learning. They will also make it easier for me to provide differentiated activities and support students at different levels without interrupting the learning of others.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to the donors who made this project possible. Through this book, The Wanderers, we have been able to connect with students at a level that will push their reading and English Language Arts skills.\r\n\r\nWe have been able to connect with students to practice inferencing. Oftentimes, books that are too familiar or that have been made into blockbuster movies, the students already know what happens. It makes it hard to practice inferencing. This book allows us to use predictions. We can also use evidence for those predictions without already knowing what will happen. \r\n\r\nThis book also uses incredible figurative language skills. Lots of similes, metaphors, and fantastic adjectives. This gives such good examples for their own writing skills. The Wanderers also has great characters that can be compared and contrasted with each other, or even compared with students in their own lives. Because of your kindness and belief in our students, our learning environment has been positively transformed in meaningful and lasting ways. Your donation of STEM toys, headphones, and teacher supplies has had a direct impact on both student engagement and daily classroom success, and I am deeply grateful.\r\n\r\nThe STEM toys you provided have opened the door to hands-on, creative learning experiences that go far beyond traditional instruction. My students now have opportunities to explore problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and perseverance in a way that feels exciting and empowering. These materials encourage curiosity and creativity while helping students build confidence as they test ideas, make mistakes, and try again. I have already seen students who may struggle during traditional lessons shine during STEM activities, discovering strengths they didn't realize they had.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have made a tremendous difference in supporting individualized learning. In our classroom, students work at a wide range of academic levels, and having access to headphones allows them to focus during independent work, listen to reading passages, practice fluency, and engage with educational technology without distractions. For many students, this has increased both confidence and independence. It has also created a calmer, more focused classroom environment where all learners can succeed at their own pace.\r\n\r\nThe teacher supplies you donated may seem small, but they play an essential role in keeping our classroom running smoothly and effectively. Having the proper materials allows me to spend less time worrying about resources and more time focused on what matters most—teaching, connecting with students, and meeting their individual needs. Your support helps ensure that lessons are well-prepared, organized, and engaging every single day.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your generosity has sent a powerful message to my students: they are valued, supported, and worthy of investment. Knowing that people outside of our classroom care about their education has made a lasting impression on them. They take pride in using these materials and understand that they are part of something bigger than themselves.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and helping create an environment where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to learn.
