We are a rural school district and our school is almost a Title 1 school, but not quite so we run on a very tight budget. We are a dual language school but only half of our student body is in the program. Using the Scholastic Magazines helps to unify our grade level with current news, science, and happenings around the world.
Students love to receive their own copy of Scholastic Magazines that they can take home to reread and share with their families. For some of our students, it is the only reading material that they have in their homes. Scholastic Magazines teach the national and state standards using vibrant photographs, engaging articles with online resources that excite our students to learn about the world around them.
Each student has their own magazine. We read each article and do the recommend activities and lesson plans. This improves our student's oral reading, comprehension skills, and depth of knowledge of the world they live in. Our students look forward to the study of the Scholastic News and Science Spin. They truly add to the culture of learning in our 3rd-grade classrooms.
