The biggest difference from a coaching standpoint is efficiency. We're able to run multiple stations at once, get more athletes through drills in a shorter amount of time, and minimize standing around. That alone has raised the intensity and focus of practice.\r\n\r\nWe've also been able to emphasize things that sometimes get overlooked, like footwork detail, body control, and flexibility. The ladders and cone drills allow us to slow things down, teach proper movement, and then build it back up to game speed.\r\n\r\nThe players were excited when they saw everything set up because a lot of these drills mirror what they see college and pro players doing at practices and combines. That connection mattered to them. It made practice feel more legitimate and more purposeful.\r\n\r\nSince we've started using the equipment consistently, both coaches and players have noticed improvements in flexibility, balance, and overall body control. Those small improvements add up, especially as we prepare for spring and eventually the fall season.\r\n\r\nThis equipment is helping us build better habits now, which will lead to safer and more proper play moving forward. We also used it for guest speakers to model reading children's books out loud to a group. This was especially helpful since many of our moms were too shy to even read allowed to their own children. \r\nUnfortunately, that summer our area of the school suffered an outbreak of mold. Golden Gate High School in Naples, FL is a Title 1 school with the majority of our students being first generation citizens. \r\n\r\nThe idea that I could offer the most basic school supplies to my students came to me a few years ago, but until I came across Donor's Choose, I struggled with the idea of how to fund it. To say the \"Help Yourself\" station has been impactful would be an understatement. There is a famous poem called \"Cause I Aint Got a Pencil\", about a young student who struggles to simply get dressed and out of the house, just to get scolded by his teacher about not having a pencil.
