Having a color printer to allow my students to display work for other adults and peers to see give my students pride in the work they have done, and keeps them excited to learn more about photography and journalism. Many of my students want to keep physical portfolios of their own to show how they continue to grow their photojournalism skills. As their teacher I always want to dote on them, and show others how amazing they are, and also keep them engaged. I find that displaying their work around campus makes others want their work to be shown too, so students engage more and try harder. As a Title One school, we don't have the funds to have color printers readily available and since the toner is so expensive, the district doesn't want there to be a bunch of them in every school. We have one large color printer in the media center, but it takes weeks for me to get anything I requested to have printed back. This printer will be used only in my classroom, and will not only bring joy to my students who will see their work displayed, but all staff and students alike who will get to see it too!
