Yes, that's right. Now that some of our basic standards are out of the way, we are in FULL swing in out PBL about Ancient Civilizations. \r\nFirst, I rolled out a small unit about Pompeii with a small reading group. I was hesitant at first, would they love this as much as I did? Would they engage and be excited? Would this spark questions and curiosities? If you thought the answer would be a resounding YES, you are SO right!\r\nFrom here, we moved into Ancient Egypt and let me tell you, I though Pompeii was cool, no, these kids are losing it over Egypt. I have even had two students bring in books/magazines from home and come in to tell me that \"last night I was researching about King Tut...\" I mean, my heart has beeb bursting listening to these kids get so excited. THANK YOU so much for engaging this students in odd curiosities and a new excitement towards learning!","fullyFundedDate":1746786007954,"projectUrl":"project/ancient-world-exploration-steamsocial/9327278/","projectTitle":"Ancient World Exploration: STEAM/Social Studies and Research!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reed","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8985865_orig.png?crop=312,312,x152,y60&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1678928779047","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8985865"},{"teacherId":8985865,"projectId":9594544,"letterContent":"Wow! After a long start to the year, we are really having some FUN now! It's taken a little time, but I have started to create small week-long unit based around the books from this project! Our 2nd graders have struggled with fluency this year, so we have taken the time to re-work our schedule and try some new things- A lot of this is centered around fluency work, but in order to keep it fin and exciting, I have created projects/hands-on activities to finish up each week! The students are LOVING it! \r\nWithout the books from this project, I am not sure we would be having the success we are. I hand-selected books based on high-interests from my students, and you can really see the buy-in! My students are incredibly hard workers who come to school each day eager to learn and grow. They are respectful, kind, and supportive of one another, which makes our classroom a truly special place to be. Their determination inspires me to create an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and excited about learning.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these resources, they have quickly become favorites in our classroom. The Flex-Space Write & Wipe table has been especially popular. Students love gathering around it to work together, write out their thinking, solve problems, and share ideas. It has created a collaborative space where learning feels active and engaging. The flexible seating cushions have also made a big difference by giving students a comfortable place to sit while working independently or in small groups, helping them stay focused during lessons.\r\n\r\nThe brain teaser games and puzzles have been a wonderful addition for early finishers and small group activities. Students enjoy challenging themselves with the maze puzzles, Kanoodle games, and memory games while strengthening their problem-solving, logic, and critical thinking skills. These materials keep students engaged in meaningful ways and encourage them to stretch their thinking. Because of your generosity, my classroom has become an even more exciting place to learn. My students absolutely love these resources, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1764781144031,"projectUrl":"project/thinking-outside-the-desk/9723857/","projectTitle":"Thinking Outside the Desk","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6465937_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700319617994","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cara-johnston"},{"teacherId":8149046,"projectId":9571023,"letterContent":"I am overwhelmed by your kindness. The math puzzles were an instant hit—they couldn't wait to challenge each other during morning work. However, believe it or not, the pencil sharpener received one of the biggest cheers! The flexible seating has allowed my students to choose the work environment that helps them focus best—some are finding their \"flow\" while tucked away with a book, while others use the fidgets to keep their hands busy so their minds can stay on the lesson.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided the comfort, tools, and inspiration my students need to do their best work.
