Every Friday students can shop at our team store with the points they have earned throughout the week. For every group of 15 points they can shop for one small prize. Recently I have added bigger prizes to our team store. Students can choose if they would like two small prizes or one big prize.\r\n\r\nI am impressed with the higher level thinking skills my students use in deciding how to spend their points at the team store. I am also impressed by how often students tell me they are taking prizes home to family members. \r\n\r\nThank you for funding this project which is helping my students practice team work in second grade! They are able to see how to correctly form letters, words, and sentence structure. My students love practicing their letters, spelling, and sentence writing right on the whiteboard — it's made handwriting practice much more interactive and engaging. The colorful sunglasses haven't been handed out yet, but they've already become a source of motivation! Students are excitedly working toward their classroom goals so they can earn their own pair as part of our incentive system. All the time you can notice small moments that you can write about.\" \r\n\r\nThis launched our personal narrative writing unit and students have done a wonderful job of telling their stories. They were so excited when I showed them the sparkly writer's notebooks you bought them and they immediately started writing down their small moments. \"The Night of the Veggie Monsters\" was a huge hit and students tried to copy the way the author used ellipses to build drama in their own stories.\r\n\r\nOne student wrote about a lost cat, another about a necklace that his mom fixed for him, another about making pancakes for his birthday breakfast.
