Carpets have always been a place where students gravitate during silent reading time. They choose their own book at their reading level and will fall into the story when they are safe and comfortable. Carpets are also a place to gather, team build, solve problems, and become a supportive learning community. We start each morning with our "Morning Meeting". We share experiences, discuss concerns and offer suggestions. We start with a video on topics such as growth mindset, empathy, friendship, and handling emotions. It is the most important part of our day and prepares us for the work of learning!
