The books you've provided have brought new energy and enthusiasm to our classroom transforming how students engage with literature.\r\n\r\nIndependent reading is essential to our classroom culture. Students have independent reading homework every night, which they document in their journals. In the past I have had students struggle with this homework as they do not have a book they are interested in reading. The new books address this issue and students who have not read in the past are now reading at home.\r\n\r\nOne particular student, Miya, has been captivated by a novel from our new collection. Miya has been hesitant about reading in the past, but she now comes to class eager to discuss the protagonist's courage and determination. Additionally she is encouraging peers to read and excited to discuss the book with her friends. \r\n\r\nThese books have enriched my students experiences with literature by providing a pathway for students to see themselves in stories, explore new perspectives, and grow as readers.
