This made is so easy for everyone to have an opportunity to participate and not have to share limited supplies. \r\n\r\nThe students were thrilled and excited to use the materials as we dissected crayfish, squid, frogs, and soon we will do rats! The trays provided a perfect workspace for the small animals. The scissors, forceps, teasing needles, and probes allowed students to explore without damaging the tissues and carefully compare what they learned in their notes to the actual specimen.\r\n\r\nStudents made sure to wash, dry, and organize their new tools after the dissections. After each lab day, they were always eager to know when the next dissection day would be!\r\n\r\nThese supplies and tools will be essential for years to come in Zoology. Students who had only ever seen finished fused glass pieces at galleries or museums were suddenly holding glass nippers, arranging colorful glass fragments, and designing their very own kiln-fired artwork. That shift — from observer to creator — is something that's hard to put into words.\r\nGlass fusing introduced our high school students to an art form that sits at the intersection of design thinking, chemistry, and craftsmanship. They learned to plan compositions with intention, understanding how colors shift and textures change under heat. They discovered that mistakes in the kiln aren't failures — they're lessons in material science and creative problem-solving. Several students who had struggled to connect with traditional drawing or painting found their confidence here, in the glow of cut glass arranged on a fiber shelf.\r\nThe learning didn't stop at the kiln. Students took their skills a step further by designing and creating fused glass pendants, which they sold at our school's annual craft fair. Watching them price their work, set up their display, and explain their process to customers gave them a taste of entrepreneurship and real-world artistry. The funds they raised went directly back into the art department — a beautiful, full-circle moment made possible by your initial generosity.\r\nBeyond the technical skills, these projects sparked meaningful conversations about patience, precision, and perseverance. Students took ownership of their work in a way that's rare and wonderful to witness.\r\nNone of this would have been possible without your generosity. You gave our students a medium, a method, and a moment to shine — and the ripple effect of that gift continues to grow.","fullyFundedDate":1768708326954,"projectUrl":"project/glass-fusing/10033998/","projectTitle":"Glass Fusing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Schnaare","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8127376_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y160&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1637608766671","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8127376"},{"teacherId":10409243,"projectId":10034202,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my students and our speech program. One moment that stood out was using the problem-solving scenarios alongside the emotion activities. Students were able to talk through real-life situations, identify feelings, and come up with appropriate responses. I saw more back-and-forth conversation and participation than I typically do, especially from students who usually need more support.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials were first introduced, students were genuinely excited. The games made them more willing to engage, take turns, and communicate with each other. Even some of my quieter students started initiating more.\r\n\r\nWe're now working on carryover by helping students use these same skills in their classrooms and with peers. The storage cart has become our central hub for student accountability; students now have a designated, predictable spot to turn in their assignments. For my own workflow, it ensures that graded work is organized and ready to be returned immediately, which has allowed me to provide much more frequent feedback to my students.\r\n\r\nUsing the Cricut, I was able to create custom, durable labels for every drawer so students know exactly where their work belongs. Beyond organization, the Cricut has been a vital instructional tool. I used it to design a high-visibility Word Wall featuring essential Spanish transition words. During a recent writing activity, I watched several students look up, find a transition word like \"sin embargo\" or \"ademas\" on the wall, and immediately incorporate it into their sentences. \r\n\r\nMy students were super excited to see the new materials arrive! There is a special kind of energy in the room when students realize that people they have never met care enough about their education to invest in our space. \r\n\r\nWith our new organizational systems and the transition word wall in place, our next step is a creative writing unit where students are authoring their own original myths and legends in Spanish. Now that they have essential linguistic scaffolding easily accessible on the walls, they are challenged to move beyond simple sentences and use those transition words to connect their ideas. We will also use the Cricut to design and cut professional-looking titles and symbols for their final legend books, giving their stories a polished, published feel that they can be proud to share with the class.","fullyFundedDate":1768707129284,"projectUrl":"project/centro-de-aprendizaje/10032527/","projectTitle":"¡Centro de aprendizaje!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Izquierdo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10408493"},{"teacherId":9355234,"projectId":10009764,"letterContent":"Students have been using the materials for projects and classroom activities. They have been really excited about brand new markers. The colors help to bring their projects alive and they are able to express their creativity freely. Many students appreciate having scissors that fit their hands, given that they are high schoolers. The hot glue guns have been a huge hit so that students can create sturdy project designs. Specifically, students used the hot glue guns when creating carnival game projects for their classmates. Projects included, skee ball, ball toss, ring toss, etc. Another material that has been very useful in the classroom has been the clipboards. Students are able to be mobile in the classroom and do more hands on activities that involve moving around the room. They appreciate that they do not have to carry their large binders everywhere to write. I have also been able to take my class outside to work and to change up the environment for them. Students used clipboards to continue their work while outside. \r\n\r\nMy students were genuinely excited and grateful when they saw the new materials. Many immediately started talking about how they wanted their posters to look and what colors they planned to use. Having access to high-quality supplies made the project feel more meaningful and helped students take pride in their work. It also encouraged collaboration, as students shared ideas and helped each other design their projects.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students is to continue working on chapter projects using the supplies provided. As a teacher, I will continue to find creative projects that address all my students' different learning styles. These projects help students demonstrate their mastery of concepts learned and to collaborate on real world projects that incorporate math topics.","fullyFundedDate":1768263682752,"projectUrl":"project/math-in-motion-hands-on-projects-that/10009764/","projectTitle":"Math In Motion - Hands on Projects That Inspire Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ratanakul-Moore","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9355234_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768164882429","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9355234"},{"teacherId":9991766,"projectId":10040121,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your generous donation of bookshelves and book sets for our classroom.\r\n\r\nAfter setting up the new shelves, I created a Black History Month book display featuring a variety of titles that highlight important voices, stories, and historical moments. Students have been naturally drawn to the display—browsing during independent reading time, flipping through pages between activities, and even sitting nearby to read first chapters. The shelves have helped create a more inviting reading space in our classroom, and the display has sparked several organic conversations about history, identity, and storytelling.\r\n\r\nStudents were immediately curious and excited. Many walked over to explore the titles as soon as they noticed the display. Several students commented on recognizing historical figures or topics they had heard about before, while others were eager to discover something new. It quickly became a focal point in the room and encouraged students to interact with books in a more spontaneous way.\r\n\r\nBuilding on this enthusiasm, I plan to organize a \"book tasting\" or gallery walk activity where students rotate between books, preview first chapters, and share recommendations with classmates. I am also considering a recurring \"First Chapter Friday\" routine to help students discover new authors and genres in a low-pressure way. These activities will continue to foster curiosity, discussion, and independent reading habits in our classroom.\r\n\r\nYour contribution helped create a space where students feel invited to explore books and ideas.
