Because of your generosity, that vision became a reality.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating, cozy spaces, and softer lighting helped transform our classroom into an environment where my kindergarteners could move, get comfortable, regulate their emotions, and learn in ways that worked for them. Instead of expecting five-year-olds to sit still under harsh fluorescent lights all day, I was able to give them choices, movement, comfort, and a space that felt much more like home.\r\n\r\nTeaching in a Title I, low-income school, I know that many of my students do not always have access to these kinds of resources outside of school. That makes their excitement over new classroom materials even more special. They notice when something new arrives. They get excited to use it, take pride in it, and quickly make it part of their classroom community. Your support allowed me to give them resources they may not otherwise have experienced and, even more importantly, the security of knowing that their needs—whatever those needs may be—can be met in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe cozy seating became places to read, work, calm down, and connect with friends. The softer lighting helped create a more peaceful atmosphere during our busy kindergarten days. Having different choices available allowed me to better support students with different learning styles, sensory needs, energy levels, and personalities.\r\n\r\nOne of my strongest beliefs as a teacher is that children should be allowed to remain children. Kindergarten should be filled with movement, imagination, curiosity, comfort, and joy while still building the strong academic foundation they need for the future. Providing a wide variety of resources made our classroom more engaging and gave my students more opportunities to explore, learn, and feel successful.\r\n\r\nMost of all, you helped me create a space where my students could feel seen, cared for, and valued exactly as they are. When children feel safe and supported, they are more willing to take risks, ask questions, build confidence, and develop a genuine love of learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my little learners and for helping me give them a classroom where they could learn, grow, dream, and simply be little.","fullyFundedDate":1755793203460,"projectUrl":"project/let-them-be-little-a-kindergarten-class/9427067/","projectTitle":"Let Them Be Little: A Kindergarten Classroom Built for KIDS.","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Shepard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8574798_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y439&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1709326916968","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsshepardsfirsties"},{"teacherId":8574798,"projectId":9214937,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting \"From Faded to Fantastic: A Board Makeover!\" This project transformed something we used every single day into a much more useful, engaging, and dependable part of our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards at our school were more than 10 years old. They were non-magnetic, stained, cracked, and nearly impossible to clean completely. No matter how much they were erased, old \"ghost writing\" remained behind. Because the boards were not magnetic, I also could not use many of the modern magnetic learning materials and manipulatives that make lessons more interactive for young students. Unfortunately, our school did not have the funding available to replace them.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students now have a clean, clear space where they can easily see modeled writing, examples, directions, and lesson materials. The magnetic surface has opened up so many new possibilities for hands-on learning, allowing students to use magnetic manipulatives and participate more actively during instruction.\r\n\r\nIt has also given us a simple and effective way to display our daily schedule. My students quickly came to rely on being able to see what was coming next in their day, which helped provide routine, predictability, and a sense of security in our classroom.\r\n\r\nTeaching in a Title I, low-income school, I know how meaningful new classroom resources can be to my students. They get especially excited when something new arrives for our room, and they take such pride in having materials and spaces that help them learn. This new board may seem like a simple classroom upgrade, but it has made teaching easier, expanded the ways my students can learn, and improved our classroom experience every single day.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a learning space that is clearer, more interactive, more organized, and better equipped to meet their needs. During literacy center time, the Tonie box draws small groups of students who eagerly listen to stories and songs, then excitedly retell them in their own words. One especially meaningful moment was watching a group listen to a story and then move to the felt board to act it out together—assigning characters, sequencing events, and even adding their own creative twists. The felt board has become a favorite for practicing letter sounds, building simple words, and encouraging storytelling. The beanbag area has also transformed our classroom into a cozy reading space where students can relax, focus, and independently enjoy books.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. There were smiles, gasps, and so many eager questions about how everything worked. Some students rushed straight to the beanbags with books in hand, while others couldn't wait to explore the Tonie box and felt pieces.
