The new books have been well received and are now proudly sitting on my shelf for students to utilize. I have already seen some of the books get signed out and start their journey of assisting student reading! \r\n\r\nWhen starting out this year I have to admit that a good number of the independent reading books left to me in my classroom library were on the older side, and many of the titles I was not familiar with. Having titles that I know, and books that are a bit more current in their writing style makes it so that I have a stronger foundation with where to direct or guide students when they are looking for a book. Additionally, increasing the graphic novels on my shelf has opened up the possibility of appealing to new readers, and allowing student who would not traditionally pick up a book a chance to expand their understanding, vocabulary and world view.","fullyFundedDate":1768335409548,"projectUrl":"project/stories-that-stick-inspiring-lifelong-r/9872236/","projectTitle":"Stories That Stick: Inspiring Lifelong Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Russell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10061281_orig.jpg?crop=723,723,x282,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762217064778","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10061281"},{"teacherId":9753949,"projectId":8793072,"letterContent":"This project has had a meaningful impact on our students by making mental health concepts tangible, relatable, and engaging. By incorporating interactive activities, games, and reflection exercises into lessons, students were able to explore stress management, coping strategies, and emotional awareness in a safe and supportive environment. Instead of just hearing about mental health, they actively practiced skills like mindfulness, goal-setting, and self-reflection, which helped them internalize these strategies and apply them in their daily lives.\r\n\r\nThe project also fostered a stronger sense of community and empathy among students. Working in pairs or small groups, students were encouraged to share experiences, support one another, and reflect on how different approaches could work for them. This not only improved social-emotional skills but also strengthened peer relationships, creating a classroom culture that values openness, understanding, and collaboration.\r\n\r\nFinally, the hands-on approach allowed students who may struggle with traditional learning methods to engage in meaningful ways. Many reported feeling more confident in recognizing and managing their emotions, and teachers observed increased participation, curiosity, and self-awareness throughout the unit. Thanks to this project, students are now better equipped with practical tools for mental health, resilience, and lifelong well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1726784503717,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-activities-for-better-mental-he/8793072/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Activities for Better Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pawlak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9753949"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_21821","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":318,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":21821,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ten Broeck Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ten Broeck Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/franklinville-central-school-district/franklinville-junior-senior-high-school/21821"}
