We work on important skills like making predictions, understanding characters' feelings, identifying the main idea, and discussing the author's message. They performed Pajama Party in the Fall, then Welcome to the Jungle in the Spring. Pajama Party is a grade-level musical that tells the story of kids getting ready for bedtime. There are 18 solo speaking parts and two solo singing parts. This was the perfect introduction to musicals for this group of students and the entire school! Welcome to the Jungle is based off Aesop's fable of the Lion and the Mouse. This musical told the story of these two characters and the valuable lesson of kindness, featuring 6 main characters with speaking parts (two with solo singing and speaking parts), 30 speaking solos, group songs, and we were able to add in additional songs featuring body percussion and xylophones. \r\n\r\nGrade-level musicals are a great tool for students, allowing them to work together towards a common goal with their peers and giving students the opportunity to see themselves succeed.
