The books and cubbies donated to my classroom have already made such a positive impact on my students. The shelves filled with colorful stories immediately drew their attention, and the cubbies provided an organized, inviting space where books feel special and within reach. Many of my students naturally gravitate toward this area throughout the day, eager to pick up a book and dive into reading. Having a designated, well-stocked space encourages their independence as readers and helps build excitement around exploring new topics. Many of my students are in the beginning stages of reading and they still enjoy flipping the pages and looking at colorful illustrations. These books truly bring joy to them. \r\n\r\nThe variety of donated books also supports our learning throughout the year. Because the texts are connected to subjects we will cover, students can make meaningful connections between what we are learning and what they read during independent time. This allows them to engage with the material at their own pace after they have explored it altogether during class. The combination of books and cubbies has created a classroom culture where reading feels natural, enjoyable, and valuable to their learning journey.
