They couldn't wait to start creating the gardening space on our campus. First, they made a plan, then our students tried all of the materials to see what would work best, including the gloves, shovels, rakes, and hand tools.\r\n\r\nFor many of our students, this was the first time they had ever touched soil and planted something beautiful like a perennial. This observation was exciting to watch and experience with our students. Our corners look nice and clean and restocked with bright materials. Eight of our classroom calming corners were able to receive multiple manipulatives and one weighted stuffed animal for calming Stress/Anxiety. Our teens love hugging on those weighted animals. Our Resource Table looks awesome in our Mental Wellness room at our High School. The tablecloths and pamphlet holders make the table well-organized and easily accessible for students and their families to gather information. \r\n\r\nStudents were excited to see the table, as it is something we, as Social Work staff and students, have discussed wanting to create together since the beginning of the school year. We were able to officially use it for the first time last week! Our Leadership class lead a school wide \"Thankfulness Challenge\" where students encouraged their peers to write down three things they are grateful for. \r\n\r\nOnce the paper was filled out, they were told to turn it in for a cup of Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows in the Mental Wellness Room. Our students reaction when they first saw the cart, coffee maker, hot chocolate and cups was one of excitement! Students were able to self-serve their treat for participation. Most students were surprised to see the new equiment in our Gym as many students have never had the opportunity to practice yoga or had been on a yoga mat before for a class. Many of the students were courious about the equipment and it was their couriousity that encouraged a few students to join in on the fun.
