Students are having a great time learning how to run a business through making hand-crafted coffee beverages using the supplies purchased with this grant. Throughout the year they have:\r\n- Developed a name for the business (Coffee on 7th), a logo, and a marketing plan.\r\n- Surveyed staff for drink and coffee preferences to develop a menu.\r\n- Visited a local coffee truck for a tour, a Q&A on how to run a coffee business. They also received hands-on training for pulling espresso shots.\r\n- Researched and learned how to make their own syrups for coffee beverages.\r\n- Created an order and delivery system for the business.\r\n- Developed an accounting system to track expenses, profits, and teacher accounts.\r\n- Developed a system for running the business on a day-to-day basis.\r\n\r\nThe staff has been raving about their beverages as well. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with a particular love of the hand-made syrups students are making to flavor the drinks.\r\n\r\nSo far, students are learning important math and career readiness skills, including profit and cost calculation, customer satisfaction, keeping up with a schedule, and so much more. I cannot thank you enough for making this happen for my students. They often let me know how much they love this project. They are learning responsibility, teamwork, and math.
