Although students moaned when I told them about the project, they are enjoying the book. In fact, a colleague recently told me he overheard students talking about the book in the cafeteria during lunch! It wasn't to prepare for an exam but simply because they were shocked at the treatment received by black students at Central High School during this time period and wanted to tell their friends about it.\r\n\r\nI have also been able to loan some books to colleagues so even more students are now able to access this book, thereby widening the net of impacted students. It is awesome to see so many students walking in the hallways with the books. I have stopped a few students with the book who are not in my classes to ask what they think of it and the response is always positive. One student told me that every student should have to read this book!","fullyFundedDate":1734800648387,"projectUrl":"project/heroes-come-in-all-sizes-once-again/8953874/","projectTitle":"Heroes Come in All Sizes Once Again","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. MacWilliam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3117474_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1458151585474","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3117474"},{"teacherId":9879106,"projectId":9013524,"letterContent":"Thank you much for making this project possible for my students. They are beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to use the ring light and instant digital camera. The camera has so many advances with different filters and lenses options, the students are having a lot of fun creating memories. The ring light is used to light portraits as well as still life set ups, making students work look more professional. Adding in these modern tech pieces into the classroom has made photography more relatable and enjoyable for the students.\r\n\r\nI appreciate you so much for supporting young artists! Your support has made a significant difference in our program, allowing more students to actively participate in the sport. With the new racquets, shuttlecocks, and nets, we've been able to hold more structured practices and even host friendly matches with neighboring schools—something that was difficult to organize before due to limited resources.\r\n\r\nThe donation has not only improved the quality of our training sessions, but it has also boosted student morale and engagement. Many of our members now feel a greater sense of pride and commitment, knowing they have access to brand new equipment. For some students, this has been their first real introduction to the sport, sparking a genuine interest and enthusiasm for badminton. Your generosity has truly enriched our club and provided opportunities that will continue to benefit our students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1736448338252,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-badminton-club/9026406/","projectTitle":"High School Badminton Club","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cucinotta","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9885955"},{"teacherId":9018407,"projectId":8311056,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for funding our project! Thanks to you, our students have a fully stocked \"store\" in which they can use their hard-earned \"money\" to buy snacks and drinks.\r\n\r\nWhen we had to pay out of pocket, we were forced to buy cheaper products because it was getting far too expensive. Although we wanted to keep our positive behavior support rewards in place, we had inner conflict because we did not want our students eating unhealthy snacks. \r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, we were able to keep everything going AND provide much healthier options for students. \r\n\r\nIt never ceases to amaze me how generous a stranger can be --- it truly takes a village, and we are so grateful you chose to be part of ours!","fullyFundedDate":1722902352126,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-bring-healthier-snacks-to-our-be/8311056/","projectTitle":"Help Us Bring Healthier Snacks to Our Beloved Program Again!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. LeBlanc","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9018407"},{"teacherId":9796457,"projectId":8863193,"letterContent":"Since receiving the materials for my project, I have been able to feel more confident and efficient in the use of my space. The bean bag chair has been very effective when some of the students need a bit of a change in their seating. One student was particularly dysregulated and agitated at one point and found that using the bean bag chair helped ground him and change his feelings. The fidgets have been useful as well, providing new options for students. Due to having more overall options, I have even been able to lend some of them to the students for prolonged periods of time to help them when they're not in school.\r\n\r\nThey were all reasonably surprised to the additions to the room. Though overall not major, they definitely changed the ambience and the welcoming environment. They were very happy to see that I was taking the steps to make the room a bit more lived in and that they had a few more options in regards to sensory grounding tools.","fullyFundedDate":1728311928680,"projectUrl":"project/mr-marios-therapy-space/8863193/","projectTitle":"Mr. Mario's Therapy Space","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Davila","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9796457"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61526","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2307,"numTeachers":150,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.5,"schoolId":61526,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Everett High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Everett High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/everett-public-schools/everett-high-school/61526"}
