Having enough materials also allows students to experiment, learn from mistakes, redesign their work, and print improved versions.\r\n\r\nMy students are especially excited when they see their own designs being printed layer by layer and finally get to hold something they created themselves. These materials have made our 3D design and manufacturing unit much more hands-on, engaging, and meaningful. Some students who may not always be as engaged with traditional assignments have shown greater interest when given the opportunity to design and manufacture their own creations. For these students, whose 1st language is not English, they had to communicate using English, so it strengthened their language skills. Students were able to measure the dissolved oxygen, sulfate, copper, pH, and iron levels of the water by taking a water sample from the stream. They were also able to measure conductivity of the water. In the photos you can see the students back at the lab completing the chemical water tests.\r\n\r\nStudents worked together to determine the safety of the water quality from these tests and propose explanations for unusually high or low levels of these parameters. Thank you so much for your generous support of this fabulous lab. This helped to inspire a love of environmental science and a love of learning.
