Identifying big emotions is important for children, so they can learn how to appropriately express themselves. Their favorite resource is the mirror. I can ask them what emotion is shown and they imitate the picture provided. Visually seeing their emotions and involving the emotion cards connect to real-life situations, facial cues, and internal sensations. \r\n\r\nMy students loved opening the new resources when I showed them. We use these resources frequently because understanding and identifying emotions are goals for my students to achieve. \r\n\r\nMy next steps are to teach my students how to self-regulate. My students love the new items that have been added. They are constantly working out how to budget for what they want. It is a pleasure to watch my students decide what items they want to immediately buy with their earned tickets and then calculate the tickets they wish to hold back to save for a higher ticketed item.\r\nIn addition, my students are becoming much better at counting by tens, fives, and ones as they learn to become more efficient counters. They are becoming very efficient about figuring out the amount of tickets they have earned and how much they need to earn to buy what they want. During our ticket exchange for items, students are getting a lot of practice learning about \"change\" and how many tickets to expect back. \r\nMy students love getting rewarding for good behavior and for making good choices. This is achieved through doing their best, finishing a task, doing what they are supposed to be doing, and showing kindness. Some days, we have a student that might not be making good choices, my paras and I can reward the other students that are making good choices. This reward system helps the students that are not making good choices make better choices. Snacks make a difference in my classroom because if a student receives positive reinforcement such as a m&m and verbal praise, another student will see their positive behavior and do what they are supposed to be doing. A snack is a small gesture that makes my students feel seen, cared for, and proud of their success.\r\n\r\nOur students were excited to see the boxes come into the classroom. When I explained that we had friends help us get the snacks and candy for us, they were jumping with excitement. I told them our friends gave us this so we can make good choices every day. \r\n\r\nOur next steps are to always be thankful that we have kind people out in the world. Everyday, I redirect the bad behaviors to kindness.
