With your support, I was able to buy higher quality Pernambuco wood violin bows and higher quality strings for all instruments. With the final leftover amount, I also bought a label maker which will certainly keep these items and our sheet music more organized. \r\n\r\nPrior to this purchase, my advanced 8th graders were playing with warped bows and with bow hair either stretched too far or barely there. Using a new bow has helped them with a big and concentrated sound. Now that the students are back in school they were very excited to return to a library with brand new books. Our library is very small for the size of our school and we do not have a book budget so they are a real luxury. Our 7th and 8th graders have read many of the books in our library already so they were especially appreciative of the new titles.\r\n\r\n We highlighted the books on various shelves and tables throughout the library and on the first day of checkouts most of them were gone. The graphic novels were very popular, of course, but the chapter books were also a big hit. I saw friends reading the book covers together and making plans about who would read what first. One exclaimed, \"Oh! I've been wanting to read this book all summer!\" \r\n\r\n Rest assured that your generosity is helping a new generation of kids develop a passion for reading.
