The students were so excited to have these animal friends added to our classroom. They have made a positive impact in increasing student focus and eliminating squirming in seats.\r\n Initially, I wanted to make sure all students had the opportunity to use the lap pads so I created a rotation schedule. I quickly found that some students do not need to the sensory tool or care to have the additional weight upon them. Now, the animals are available on a first come, first serve basis- and this has worked out. \r\n In addition to the weighted lap pad animals, I also received several materials for a calm down tub. These are available for students at any time. I have noticed that when students finish their work, a few will get the sensory items from the tub and work with them at their desks. It has increased focus for some. They are mesmerized with the liquid bubbles!\r\n Thank you for contributing to our sensory needs!","fullyFundedDate":1756471701548,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-sensation/9307328/","projectTitle":"Sensory Sensation!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dunbar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3973048_orig.jpg?crop=1788,1788,x0,y262&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691962717766","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3973048"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_86490","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":486,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":11,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"20.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":68.9,"schoolId":86490,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Edison Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Edison Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/bristow-public-school-district/edison-elementary-school/86490"}
