The students in my classroom range from ages 5-12 years old, and some of have special needs. They are still learning through exploring and tactile play, and having many art mediums for them to experience is my goal! I will use many of these materials to create ART CENTERS. In my Art Centers younger and more challenged students will enjoy the CHOICES they have and the PROCESS of Art. They will get to explore clay and tools to manipulate and create with. Students will get to use chalk and oil pastels to see how they can blend and create new colors. The dry erase pockets will help build confidence in their drawing; as they trace some of their favorite characters or animals. The stencils will help them practice drawing shapes, while building their fine motor skills. They will be engaged while creating their own art through collage materials such as pipe cleaners, google eyes, Kwik Stix and new scissors, that can be used by students left or right handed. The ease and simplicity of the liquid watercolors and paintbrushes will be therapeutic for many of my students. My focus is to help every student enjoy expressing themselves through art and to find their favorite medium to do so.
