Students use them to build towers, houses, bridges, roads, castles, and structures inspired by their own experiences and imaginations. As they build, they are also developing important early learning skills. They practice counting and comparing sizes, explore shapes and spatial relationships, strengthen fine-motor skills, and begin to understand balance, stability, and cause and effect.\r\n\r\nBlock play also creates wonderful opportunities for social-emotional learning. These decisions made by the author are deliberate, belong the reader experience the dual timelines, the characters' struggles, and the ultimate thriving of Salva and Nya.\r\nA book should suck a reader in, that's the only way readers are born.
