With your support, we purchased green bins for every student in first and second grade. Our school mascot is the Cobra so they fit into our classrooms beautifully! \r\n\r\nThe teachers have been using new instructional strategies that match the Science of Reading and personalizing lessons based on instructional needs in their small groups. Instead of reading a book once and then sending it straight back to the storage room, now each student has their own \"library\" where they can organize and store the books that they have pre-read with their teacher. As I mentioned in my original post, repeated reading makes the tricky \"sticky\" (it sticks better in our heads). These students are now able to grab books from their personalized book bin and practice reading with confidence. They love them and the teachers do too!\r\n\r\nThe exciting part is that the bins are solidly made and will be used in these classrooms for years to come. The first graders who move up to second grade next year will know exactly how to use them and will be able to jump right in. Our current kindergarteners will be trained on how to use them and take care of them next year as first graders. Your help will impact hundreds of students in the years to come!\r\n\r\nThank you again for your help with this project!
