In fact, they seemed surprised and excited that it was happening! What's more, throughout the class period, the students helped each other, took the time to follow different directions to create specific designs on their shirts, and laughed about how long it had been since they had gotten to do a project like this. Though tie-dye may seem like a simple activity, there was something really special about giving students the opportunity to be creative, get a little messy, work together, and simply enjoy making something.\r\n\r\nThroughout the week, students stopped by my classroom to collect their finished shirts and proudly wore them to our first assembly of the year—the Homecoming Pep Assembly. Junior class blue was well represented! I was especially surprised and happy to see some of my students who are typically less involved or engaged wearing their shirts. While I can't know exactly what that meant to each student, I took it as a wonderful sign that they were feeling connected to and proud of being part of our school community.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building on that sense of community throughout the year. Setting up for performances is now faster, safer, and much more reliable for everyone. Our speakers weigh 53 lbs each, and the auto-lift feature on these stands lets us raise and lower them easily to fit any venue.\r\n\r\nWe recently moved the stands to the gym for a pep assembly, and the improvement in sound was immediately noticeable. Being able to lift the speakers high enough for the space helped our students project clearly across the whole gym. These stands will be essential for our annual concerts in the auditorium, and we will take them on the road for larger community performances as well.\r\n\r\nWe are extremely grateful for your support. The Timbales you donated allowed us to perform last week to a crowd of over 500 people. The Timbale was a major part of the percussion ensemble for multiple songs and was desperately needed. \r\n\r\nOne of the songs we played was a note for note arrangement of Carlos Santana's Smooth. If you know this song, the timbales are the central instrument and our kids performed it beautifully. Their faces lit up with amazement and curiosity after realizing that all the supplies are ready to be used by them. Many of my students especially my freshmen couldn't believe the materials and supplies were really for them- touching, exploring, and even asking questions where they came from. It was a powerful reminder of how meaningful your generosity is. These resources immediately transformed our classroom into a more dynamic, organized and engaging learning space. \r\n\r\nWe recently completed a one pager project on the book we covered for this quarter for my Juniors and a main idea/quote poster on \"Lamb to the Slaughter\" for my freshmen where my students used the new supplies to design and used their creativity. They made use of the \"Thesaurus\" to define a few words and the 10 drawer cabinet where all the supplies are organized and placed for easy use. They worked in pairs or groups of three to openly discuss what they need to do by brainstorming ideas and work collaboratively with their group in order to come up with great and creative designs. Up next, I am planning to let them design a quotation page or a project where they show their visual talent and creativity. I will have them use the thermal laminator so their project will be preserved for a long period of time and can be displayed on the walls of our classroom.
