Your generosity has made an immediate and meaningful impact on our classroom community, and we are so grateful.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the new materials, our students have been using them every day in a variety of ways. One of the most special moments we've experienced was watching students come together for an impromptu wiffleball or kickball game. Students who might not typically interact in the classroom were cheering each other on, taking turns, and celebrating one another's successes. Others have loved using the parachute for group games, creating colorful chalk drawings, and simply enjoying time to talk and connect with their peers.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new equipment, their excitement was contagious. There were smiles, cheers, and so many \"Can we try this?\" moments. It was clear right away that these resources were not just adding fun to their day—they were opening the door for connection, collaboration, and joy.\r\n\r\nThese opportunities are especially meaningful for our students because we have recently merged three schools' gifted programs into one cohesive academy. The playground equipment has played a vital role in helping students build relationships and feel a sense of belonging. For gifted learners, socialization and the development of affective and success skills are just as important as academic growth. These shared play experiences are helping students strengthen communication, teamwork, and emotional awareness outside the walls of the classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we plan to continue incorporating structured and unstructured play into our daily routines. Students will be working on collaborative group challenges using the parachute, organizing their own team games, and even integrating creative expression through chalk art into upcoming projects. These experiences will support not only their social growth but also their confidence and ability to work effectively with others.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has given our students more than just equipment—it has given them opportunities to connect, grow, and thrive together. Thank you for investing in our students and helping us create such a positive and supportive learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1767031815799,"projectUrl":"project/brilliant-minds-active-bodies-hcsd-gif/9938436/","projectTitle":"Brilliant Minds, Active Bodies: HCSD Gifted Academy Recess Revamp","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tammy Estapa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3863401_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1475954152687","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tammy-estapa"},{"teacherId":8689863,"projectId":9286630,"letterContent":"The Empowering Inclusion project has already made such a positive difference for my students. Technology has given them opportunities to practice skills in a way that feels engaging and personalized. For example, Olivia has been practicing her multiplication facts using the iPad, and she is so proud of how quickly she is beginning to recall her times tables. Isla has really benefited from using interactive math fact practice, which allows her to work at her own pace and celebrate her progress along the way.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, traditional practice can feel overwhelming, but the iPads turn learning into an interactive and motivating experience. The most exciting part for my students is that the apps feel like games, but at the same time, they are building critical academic skills. They love the immediate feedback, colorful visuals, and the sense of independence they gain when working with technology.\r\n\r\nSome students, like Olivia and Isla, have especially warmed to this new technology. Olivia lights up when she beats her previous score on multiplication practice, and Isla has started to independently ask for more math fact activities on the iPad. These small moments show how empowering technology can be in helping students feel successful and confident in their abilities.\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, my students are not only building essential academic skills but also gaining independence, motivation, and pride in their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1746786223085,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-inclusion/9286630/","projectTitle":"Empowering Inclusion","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kinney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8689863"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12402","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":635,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.3,"schoolId":12402,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Hancock Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Hancock Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/hancock-county-school-district/east-hancock-elementary-school/12402"}
