One of our favorite projects recently involved using colorful tissue paper to explore the concept of matter. Students carefully layered, crumpled, and arranged the tissue paper to create different textures while we talked about how materials can change shape. After learning about physical change in matter, we made the most beautiful snowflakes! They were completely engaged and proud to show how their creations represented what we were learning. The stencils have also been a wonderful addition to our writing time. Students love choosing different shapes, animals, and objects to add to their pages, and I've noticed that they are writing longer stories and challenging themselves to add more details because they feel inspired by the visuals.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were immediately curious and eager to use them. The tissue paper sparked excitement right away, and many students began brainstorming what they could create even before we started the lesson. The stencils quickly became a class favorite, with students excitedly sharing their ideas and helping each other trace and decorate their work. The laminating sheets have also made a big difference in our daily learning centers. Because of them, I was able to create durable center activities that students use every day for reading, writing, and hands-on practice.\r\n\r\nAs the year goes on, we will continue building on these experiences by using the stencils to support more detailed storytelling and descriptive writing. These stencils will last for years and years - engaging and inspiring little minds for many years to come! Students will also keep using our laminated center materials to practice important skills independently while I work with small groups. We are excited to keep exploring creativity, hands-on learning, and new ways to express our ideas thanks to the generous support of our donors. The kids were so excited to have brand new materials to use and find it much easier to use then using the trackpad on the chromebooks. \r\nWe use our computers daily for required programs as well as interactive lessons in the classroom. They are also used for state and district wide testing. The kids are able to read independently, and can be trusted to look at the books without the chance that they will rip or tear them while doing so.\r\n Having a diverse selection of accessible books is essential in all classrooms. My PreK room is no exception! Because of our variety of available titles, students are eager to explore and experience books.
